I've started a new thread on a topic I reported before, which was unresolved. It's now being tried under DX Update1.

Previous thread : Bluetooth Tethering - Photowall Sample (2 Oct 2015)

The problem is Bluetooth Tethering. I'm trying to develop an App which uses Tethering between an Android tablet and Windows desktop (Win 7 Pro). My application works fine using WiFi tethering but not Bluetooth.

So to get to basics I've been using the PhotoWall sample. This works fine with WiFi but with Bluetooth I cannot discover any managers. This is exactly the issue I have with my application. So let's concentrate just on the PhotoWall sample.

The only change is the TTetheringManager.AllowedAdapters setting which is changed between "Network" and "Bluetooth".

My Bluetooth connection is established as my PC shows as paired. I can play an mp3 file on my PC from the tablet.

Tethering has been buggy since XE7.

So is this still a bug ?
Tethering is great, but as it's "black box" it's hard to find out why it's not working Is there a way I can investigate why no managers are being discovered ?
Is there a specific type of Bluetooth connection required ? (as far as I know this is "regular" and not LE Bluetooth)

All help greatfully accepted.

Thanks

I've noticed that the forum now contains more examples of this not working. So I'm concluding that Update 1 has still not fixed this issue.

This is a shame. There have now been several occasions, including exhibitions where we have been unable to demo our Android app working in conjunction with our desktop product because WiFi security does not allow us to make the connection. Having Bluetooth would allow us to demo.

Can we have some idea if this is being fixed ? has been fixed ? when it's likely to appear ?

We've had to deal with all sorts of minor problems with App Tethering with both connection and messaging in XE7, XE8, 10 Seattle and 10 Seattle Update 1.

That's a lot of versions not working.....bring back the old days when it was only even numbered Delphi where things didn't work.
