Hi,

Is there a breadcrumbs style navigation control in BCB 2009 ?
My soft navigates a tree and it would be nice to be able to keep track of the path and select a higher object to jump back.
If not available, how do you recommend I implement something like that (should there be articles on the subject already - I couldn't find any but maybe I'm using the wrong terminology)

Unfortunately, there isn't.

A breadcrumb control actually consists of a number of controls placed on top of each other.

For more information and some sample code, have a look at:

Hi Pete,

I have just implemented something for a very similar situation to the one you described. It was a little convoluted but worked well. I used a TLinkLabel and a stl stack. The stack kept track of the nodes that had been clicked on, and I simply kept adding ref tags to the link label, with index references relating back to the stack. If the user clicked on a link in the middle of the breadcrumb, I simply deleted all text infront of it etc.

No a perfect visual breadcrumb but works fine. Alternatively, bergsoft off an amazing set of VCL components that include a fully functional breadcrumb that I have used in the past:

Thanks guys,

I had to postpone this little project for a week.
Next week I'm picking up the thread again and will go to work on it (hopefully).

I also found this: http://stackoverflow.com/questions/6203217/is-there-an-edit-control-for-delphi-that-allows-path-editing
and especially: http://specials.rejbrand.se/dev/controls/breadcrumb/readme.html
but I'm not good with components and Delphi ... so I haven't been able to test yet.
